The Sicamous Eagles racked up four points last week during a hit-and-miss series of away games.

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, the Eagles travelled north to have another go at the Revelstoke Grizzlies.

The last time the two teams met, on Friday the 13th, things got ugly and the Eagles suffered a 7-4 loss. The rivalry between these two teams was further cemented Tuesday night, with the Eagles losing 5-0 – the majority of the Revelstoke’s goals scored on the power play. Regardless, the Grizzlies dominated the contest, outshooting their guests 63 to 18. For his effort, Eagles netminder Zack Wickson, who through the whole game, was named second star.

At the Nor-Val Centre in Armstrong on Friday, Oct. 20, the Eagles picked up a hard-fought 4-2 win over the North Okanagan Knights. Breckin Erichuk from Tyler Collens put the Eagles on the board with a goal just after the halfway mark of the first period. This dynamic duo did the exact same seconds into the second period, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead. The Knights struck back minutes later, and their heightened offensive continued throughout the frame. Their second and final goal of the night, however, was a power-play conversion three minutes before the buzzer. Brandon Clark, who had goaltending duties for the Eagles in this game, stopped 50 of 52 shots on net and was named the game’s second star.

Saturday night, the Eagles continued along Highway 97 to the Rutland Arena where they were served a 7-1 disappointment by the Kelowna Chiefs. Cody Louks opened scoring with a goal at 15:31 in the first period off Jordan Sheasgreen. The Eagles continued to put in a solid effort but were unable to overcome the home team.

Sicamous forward Joel Bourgeois was named the game’s second star.

The Eagles’ week on the road ended on a high note at the Kamloops Memorial Arena Sunday, Oct. 22, with a 5-2 win against the Storm. Scoring started late in the first frame with two singles for Sicamous courtesy of Sean Moleschi off Erichuk and Ty Tippett off Aaron Plessis and Josh Olson.

The Storm potted a single near the halfway mark in second period, but a power-play conversion, with 16 seconds left on the clock, by Collens off Erichuk gave the Eagles a 3-1 going into the third.

An Erick Evans marker early in the third period gave the Storm some short-lived hope as the Eagles used the man-advantage minutes later to add another goal to their tally (Justin Hodgson off Trysten Brookman and Carter Brown). Sheasgreen scored the final goal of the night off Justin Hodgson and Louks.

Ty Tippett earned the game’s second-star honours.

Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Chase to face the Heat on Friday, Oct. 27. Then it’s back home on the 28th to once again take on the Grizzlies. Game time is 7 p.m.
