The Salmon Arm Silverbacks will have a new face behind the bench for the 2017/2018 season

The team announced today that Misko Antisin will be stepping down as the team’s head coach effective May 30.

Antisin took over the team in November 2016 after Brandon West was relieved of the Head Coaching position.

“I appreciate the confidence and support of Troy Mick and the Silverbacks ownership group over the last 3 years, however I will be moving back to the USA to pursue professional opportunities down there,” Antisin said.

“I would like to thank my immediate staff Darrell Hay, Brooks Christensen, Jade Viegas, Heather Sims and Phil Stewart for all of your diligent work and efforts as well as your friendship and support. To the players thank you for giving me your best every night and to the best fans in the league, thank you being patient with the young group we had this past season as I believe you will be very pleased with the team this coming season.”

Antisin says he will stay on as a consultant to help find American players to fill the ‘Backs ranks.

“This is a tough day for me personally as I have known Mish for many years however I’m very excited for his future down in the states” said Silverbacks GM Troy Mick. “He turned the program around when he agreed to take the team over in November and we will be a better team this year because of it. He is an amazing coach, friend and role model for all players in the game of hockey, he will be missed.”

The team say the search for Antisin’s replacement will begin immediately.
