Streak continues

Salmon Arm Blackburn Peewee Silverblades continue their winning streak with nine wins, no losses and three ties. On Sat. Jan. 15, the Silverblades were 3-0 against the Vernon Lakers, but early in the second the Lakers, an all-girl team, scored, making it 3-1. They tied it up with two unanswered goals. The Blades rallied back to get one. With two minutes left, the Lakers fired one in. Final score: Silverblades 4, Lakers 4. Goals were scored by Donte Nowell and Jacob Oberst.

Josh Niewenhuizen was excellent on backchecking, creating scoring chances. Two hard workers all game were Ella Ross and Brandon Jalving.

On Jan.16, the Silverblades trounced the Vernon Bulldogs 6-2. The defensive skills of Cameron McGregor and Steve Luchkanych were a big part of the scoring. Jake Buffie and Justin Dodge were a credit to the game. Outstanding backchecking gave Kyle Clark an assist. Curtis Bannister got one, Jacob Oberst netted two, Dontie Nowell also got two.
