The CPKC Holiday Train will make its harmonic return to Revelstoke next Friday (Dec. 15), bringing a free concert to the side of the tracks in town with two artists.
The CPKC Holiday, formerly CP Holiday Trains before CP’s $31-billion acquisition of Kansas City Southern, has provided a show on tracks since 1999. After last year’s successful holiday train saw a large crowd of locals come out to watch the show, it’s set to return to Revelstoke for another big show.
The train is expected to roll into town at 2:15 p.m., but the show won’t start until 2:45 p.m.
Virginia to Vegas (who performed in Revelstoke last year), Trudy, Tyler Shaw, Kiesza, and Anyway Gang will all be onboard the train for the Canadian leg of the tour. Of the five artists on the train, only two will perform at the stop in Revelstoke.
Tyler Shaw is a Canadian artist, born in Richmond, B.C. who has millions of streams on Spotify, and more than a decade of work as a professional artist. Shaw first appeared on the major Canadian music scene when he won MuchMusic’s Coca-Cola cover’s contest. Recently, Shaw burst back on scene with a musical response to abc by Gayle, which was hugely popular online.
Revelstoke will also be treated to a performance by Canadian artist, Kiesza. Kiesza is a singer and multi-talented instrumentalist from Calgary, AB. The artist is perhaps best known for a single released in 2014 called Hideaway, which has garnered more than 300 million streams on Spotify.
The artists are expected to take the stage at 2:45 p.m. in the parking lot near Victoria St., which runs parallel to the train tracks. The event is free and open to the whole community. Prior to that, the train will have stopped in Golden the night before and will head to Sicamous, Canoe, Salmon Arm, and Notch Hill after its performance in Revelstoke.
