Deep Creek 4H Club gets active this season

The now 50-year-old Deep Creek Dairy 4H Club is enjoying the spring weather.

The now 50-year-old Deep Creek Dairy 4H Club is enjoying the spring weather.

Members have been working hard to train their dairy heifers as well as doing spring activities as a club.

The club held their communications day at the Deep Creek Ranchero Fire Hall on Saturday, March 16. The speeches were creative, entertaining and interesting.

Two demonstration teams showed how to make pizza on pita bread and the other, beautifully decorated cupcakes.

On Wednesday, March 27, the club held a spring clean-up as a fundraiser in the Deep Creek area.  All 20 members  showed up to work all day.

The community was generous and the club had a lot of fun serving as a team. Twelve club members also had an opportunity to practice their showing skills in the North Okanagan Spring Show Saturday, April 6, at the Armstrong fairgrounds.

Member Micah Bucher, 15, received the Reserve Champion award in the senior showmanship class.

A second spring clean-up was held, this time in the Salmon Valley, on Friday, April 19.

It was another successful fundraiser in a generous neighbourhood and fun event for all involved.

All these activities have been great learning opportunities for the growing club.
