Enderby rings in Christmas traditions

The community has a big weekend planned for the Enderby Traditional Christmas Celebrations this Friday and Saturday

When it comes to celebrating Christmas in the North Okanagan, Enderby takes the cake.

The community has a big weekend planned for the Enderby Traditional Christmas Celebrations this Friday and Saturday.

In fact, the fun has already started with the Gingerbread Contest creations being accepted at the Library now until Dec. 6 and a Toonie Tree and Silent Auction underway at the Museum until Dec. 19.

But the bulk of fun goes Dec. 6 and 7 with holiday happenings for all ages.

A Bake Sale at the Museum kicks off Friday's events at 10 a.m. and goes until 7 p.m. The Splatsin Centre also hosts a Christmas Market from 10-3.

While you're downtown, perhaps doing some Christmas shopping, enter your receipts a the Library for the Christmas Basket Draws, which take place from 1-7 p.m. Friday.

Santa's Workshop Shopping Spree opens for kids aged four to 12 Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. where they can shop for gifts for loved ones.

Kids can then get crafty at the Library from 4-6 p.m. and watch as the official Tree Lighting Celebrations take place at 5:30 p.m., then the Christmas Parade at 6 p.m.

Food vendors, bonfires, Santa and more fun will fill the Mainstreet Celebrations from 6:30-8 p.m., along with Wagon RIdes, starting in front of Guardian Pharmacy and running until 8:30 p.m.

There's so much fun that two days are needed to celebrate and Saturday has more holiday cheer.

Party with Santa from 10-12 at the Legion where there will be photos with the jolly old man, crafts, games, prizes, food and drinks.

There will also be more Wagon Ride starting in front of the pharmacy from 10 a.m. to noon.

Santa's Workshop Shopping Spree is open to kids and teens Dec. 7 from 10-4.

More Christmas basket draws take place Dec. 7 from 10-4 at the Library.

The evening concludes with Let There Be Peace production at the Enderby Chapel Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The show goes again Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Seniors are invited to Santa's Workshop Shopping Spree Dec. 11 from 9-3 and adults get the final chance to shop Dec. 14 from 10-4.

The holiday cheer continues online with Social Media Christmas Bingo Dec. 6-23. Pick up cards Dec. 5 after noon at Enderby Jewellers and Soapolallie Soapworks. Follow Enderby's Traditional Christmas Celebrations on Facebook and Instagram.

Just before the big guy in red makes his rounds, the community is invited to skate with Santa Dec. 21 at the Enderby Arena from 9:30-11 a.m.
