Knights of Columbus help Shuswap causes

The Knights of Columbus # 7107 of Salmon Arm distributed $17,000 to a variety of community recipients.

The Knights of Columbus # 7107 of Salmon Arm distributed $17,000 to a variety of community recipients.

The funds were raised by the Knights of Columbus through accumulated lottery funds and through the sale of State Charity Appeal Auto raffle tickets in the Salmon Arm malls in  2013 and 2014.

Twenty-two individuals and groups benefitted from the funding: The North Okanagan Brain Injury Society, $1,000; The Shuswap Hospice Society, $1,000; Interior Health Life Line, $1,000; Salvation Army Food Bank, $144; Good Samaritan Society, $500; Kidsport, $500; Shuswap Kids Fishing Derby, $200; Rachel’s Vineyard, $600; Reaching Out MS Society of Salmon Arm, $750; Royal Canadian Air Cadets, $500; Shuswap Search and Rescue, $500; Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, $500; Safe House Society, $750; Shuswap Children’s Association $500; Salvation Army Food Bank, $1,200; Seniors Resource Centre, $500; Shuswap Hospital Foundation, $1,250; Shuswap Pro-Life Society, $500; Signal Hill-Education, $750; Sonlight Kitchen,$500; Stroke Recovery Support Group, $750.

The money will also go towards two $750 scholarships for Salmon Arm Secondary graduates and two $1,000 scholarships for college or university students.

 

The Knights of Columbus also donated $400 each to the PACs at St. Anne’s Academy, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and St. James School.
