The Canadian Mental Health Association Shuswap-Revelstoke branch asks the community of Salmon Arm to come together today in remembrance of those who have committed suicide.

The event takes place at McGuire Lake Park in Salmon Arm from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10. The park will be lighted by lanterns which are decorated and symbolize the memory of someone who was lost to suicide, and carries hope for those who hold their memory with them.

The Salmon Arm walk is part of an international World Suicide Prevention Day. In whatever way suicide has impacted a life, the CMHA hopes walking with each other in a shared space helps stand up to feelings of isolation and powerlessness that can take root when suicide impacts a community.
