Salmon Arm legion's Friendship Snooker tourney builds community

Event was held in conjunction with the Sorrento branch

Salmon Arm Legion Branch 62 president Lance Ewan is working on building community in the Shuswap as part of greater unity overall, with the recent Friendship Snooker Tournament a step in the right direction.

Ewan was instrumental in having the branch sponsor the tournament, which had participants divided up into teams with each one having a representative from both Salmon Arm and Sorrento.

"If we can get along as neighbours, we can get along as provinces, we can get along as competitors," he said in a media release. "And yes, we can continue to bond as countries."

The tournament had prize money, trophies and bragging rights on the line but, throughout the four-day event, though all teams wanted to win they were still able to play competitively while still supporting the victors in the end.
