Santa Claus arrives in Armstrong tonight.

The annual Christmas Light Up takes place in downtown, starting at 5:30 p.m. Santa is expected to flip the switch on the Christmas lights at around 6 p.m.

Armstrong school kids will kick off Friday with the annual tradition of decorating the large tree by the Station Diner at Okanagan Street and Pleasant Valley Boulevard.

There will be entertainment throughout the evening.

There is no parade this year, nor is there a late-night shopping event.

The Home For the Holidays event will run Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and feature daytime shopping with incentives at a number of local businesses, food tasting and wagon rides.

“This event will link both parts of our businesses’ community together and tie into events happening that weekend,” said Patti Noonan, executive director of the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce. “There will be all sorts of fun.”

Details on both events can be found at the chamber’s website, www.aschamber.com.
