An Enchanted Evening awaits the community as the annual Father-Daughter Ball enters its 25th year, and under a new name.
Vernon Silver Star Rotary (VSSR) has rebranded the event to an Enchanted Evening. The Oct. 18 fundraiser still includes dancing, dinner, door prizes and a silent auction, with all proceeds going directly into the VSSR's community account, used to provide grants and donations to organizations in the community.
"This fundraising event started as a celebration of the unique relationships between fathers and daughters particularly as special time shared between them may be limited,” said VSSR president Calvin Reich. "It evolved over the years and will continue to reflect the changes in family dynamics, and we believe this rebranding supports that theme while maintaining the integrity of the event.”
Beneficiaries from the fundraiser in the past include: TeenJunction, Vernon and Lumby Food Banks, VentureTraining, Girl Guides Canada and various school breakfast and lunch programs within School District 22.
Reich added that it was fantastic to see the "growing support the event has garnered over the years from individuals and businesses in the community."
"We continue to work with the Vernon Lodge in improving it year over year, but in the end, the real joy is in seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces at the event as they get to dress-up and spend a special evening with that special adult in their lives."
