Witches, warlocks and more are invited to attend the 2nd annual Sicamous Witches Paddle as Megan Sapinski and her daughter Charlie did last year. This year's event is in support of the SAFE Society with donations gratefully accepted.

Something witchy this way is coming.

The 2nd annual Sicamous Witches Paddle is sweeping back into town, with warlocks, kids, pets and the whole coven invited to participate, donate or just spectate at the Beach Park on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. Brooms will be traded for paddles as participants hit the water in their witchy wear on paddle boards and kayaks to celebrate fall with a good cause.

This year’s event is in support of the Shuswap Area Family Emergency (SAFE) Society, with all funds collected going to support the Transition House program for women fleeing intimate partner abuse. In addtition to cash, other donations will be accepted as well, including seasonal clothing, toiletries, children’s school snacks and pet supplies.

Along with prizes for the best costume, organizers on the Facebook event page promise there are “lots of good things brewing, for paddlers and spectators alike.”

Anyone unable to attend but wanting to support the SAFE Society can send cheques too PO Box 1463, Salmon Arm, B.C., V1E 4P6, or e-transfers to executivedirector@safesociety.ca. Additional information and event updates can be found on the Sicamous Witches Paddle Facebook page.
