Stories ripped from the headlines of the Observer are being served up for this summer's dinner theatre production at R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum.

This summer, the Salmon Arm heritage attraction's annual Villains and Vittles Dinner Theatre marks its 30th anniversary with the play, Read All About It!, written and directed by Sara Schreiner, with research contributions from cast member Sadie Maddigan.

"Inspired by newspaper articles from the Observer dating back to 1908, the play weaves captivating storylines with music from our local station's playlist, offering a delightful hint of time travel," reads a media release from R.J. Haney Heritage Theatre and Museum. Join our talented cast, Chey Dickson, Sadie Maddigan, Lily McEwan, Jonas Roberts, Kevin Scott and Samara Snyder, as they bring history to life in this must-see highlight of Salmon Arm's summer entertainment."

The dinner theatre production gets underway on Sunday, July 14, and runs evenings from Wednesday to Sunday until Aug. 25, with a special matinee performance on Thursday, Aug. 22.

As seating is limited, reservations are required to enjoy the dinner-theatre production. Check-in begins at 5 p.m., with a home-cooked dinner with "all the pioneer fixings" being served at 6 p.m. at the Sprig of Heather restaurant. After the play, theatregoers may indulge in a dish of homemade rhubarb crisp and ice cream for dessert.
