Regarding district teacher's union representative Graham Gomme's contribution to your recent article on the difficulties of this year's school budget: When I first read his statement I was upset about the proposed cuts. When I attended the budget meeting the next week it was clear that Mr. Gomme purposely exaggerated the numbers in order to sow anger amongst the community.
The reality of the cuts that have to be made are hard enough to stomach. There was no need to sensationalize things to seem worse than it is.
It was an unprofessional decision, and I hope he and future spokespeople for the unions can learn to fight for their cut of the budget without resorting to misleading the public.
