The 19th Annual Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival August 19th, 20th, 21st

Be prepared to be blown away by a weekend of the best folk, blues, world, alternative, and roots music at the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival. This three-day music celebration features six stages and over 45 artists representing Canada and the World.  The event runs the extended weekend of August 19th, 20th, and 21st at the Salmon Arm Fair Grounds’ expansive 18 acre site in the heart of Salmon Arm.

Site amenities include international food kiosks that feature everything from freshly-squeezed lemonade and mouth-watering BBQ meats to vegetarian dishes and unforgettable ice cream. After enjoying a delicious meal, make sure and stop by the Canadian-crafted artisans’ market where you will find handmade jewelry, bamboo instruments, henna tattoos, colourful clothing, immaculate welded figurines and much more. The site also features the “Roots and Blues” tent which offers the artists’ merchandise, and information on when your favourite artist is scheduled for autograph signing.

The Roots and Blues Festival brings us the ‘Roots ‘n Rhythms’ dance stage offering dance workshops taught by professional dancers from around the world.  For the kid in the family the festival offers a ‘Family Fun Zone’ featuring a musical stage, climbing wall, crafts tent and more. For the ‘big’ kids in the family there is the Boogie Bar-N stage and Main Stage Beer Gardens which have picture perfect view of the respective stages. At this family-friendly event, children twelve and under are free and the site is wheelchair accessible.  The festival also offers rough camping with a limited amount of sites in a field right across from the festival grounds, so you don’t have to worry about driving anywhere!

This year’s performers will include Taj Mahal, Jonny Lang, Arkells, Sharon and Bram, JJ Grey and Mofro, Justin Rutledge, Mark Hummel & Blues Survivors, Street Drum Corps Present BANG!, Mighty Popo, Five Alarm Funk, Bob Wiseman, Harrison Kennedy, and many more!
