Eagle Bay Day, celebrations got off to a tasty start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 with a pancake breakfast outside Eagle Bay Community Hall.

Some 340 hungry people lined up for pancakes.

There was a yard sale with a variety of household treasures, a show and shine of vintage vehicles, and a used book sale.

A good old fashioned cake walk was the highlight of the morning, with a scrumptious looking cake the prize for sitting in the right numbered seat.

Festival trails

Enjoy a day of hiking, music and food Sunday, Aug. 12.

Start the day with a Blind Bay Lookout Trail Hike, departing from the Balmoral Trailhead at 10 a.m.

Soak in the scenic views and interesting stories then enjoy a community prepared meal, put your feet up and listen to Buckman Coe’s intensive storytelling.

The concert takes place 7 p.m. at the Blind Bay Hall.

Coe is a critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and poet. Based in Vancouver, Coe tours extensively and has produced three CDs, including the recently released By the Mountain’s Feet.
