Festival to honour young writers

More than 200 young writers submitted pieces of short prose and poems this year, in the Annual KidsWrite contest sponsored by the Shuswap Association of Writers, City of Salmon Arm, Rotary and Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union.

“We’re delighted about both the number of entries and the quality of writing,” says Karen Bissenden, co-ordinator of the contest. “It shows a love of writing in every age group.”

Awards will be presented at a ceremony held during the annual Shuswap Writers’ Festival. The ceremony will take place Saturday May 28 at 3:30. p.m at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort and is open to the public.

Wendy Phillips, a festival presenter, will be a special guest.
