Group celebrates volunteers

The Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society (LASS) invites all literacy volunteers and supporters to attend a special appreciation tea on Wednesday, April 27.

The tea will take place from 3 to 4 p.m.  at the District Education Centre at 2960 Okanagan Ave.

The alliance is hosting the tea to thank all of the volunteers in the North Okanagan- Shuswap who have supported community literacy programs this past year.

These programs include One to One Children’s Literacy, Computer Tutoring for Seniors, Family Literacy events, and Spread the Word Book Bins.

LASS would also like to invite and acknowledge all of the individuals, organizations and businesses that have supported community literacy initiatives either financially or in kind.

Literacy Alliance co-ordinator  Jennifer Findlay asks that those who are interested in attending the tea let her know by calling 250-833-2095, or by sending her an email to lassloc@telus.net.

The Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap will be holding its AGM after the tea, from 4 to 5 p.m.   anyone who is interested is more than welcome to attend, Findlay says.
