R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum is hosting high tea from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday May 29.

“At the village, we take pride in keeping this social affair as regal as possible,” says village manager Susan Mackie. “Come and enjoy an afternoon of antics, music, entertainment, tea and treats – all set in the beautiful surroundings of the Village.”

Marjorie’s Tea Room chef, Zach Harder, has prepared a special high tea menu with a selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, scones and a variety of homemade cakes and treats, all paired with a wide range of specialty teas.

Enjoy the storytelling of award-winning Vancouver writer and entertainer Christine Pilgrim.

“Christine specializes in history-based theatre and through her portrayal, she brings the stories of Canadian icons and historic characters to life,” says Mackie. “Christine writes all her own material and you are guaranteed to get a laugh or two as you enjoy her crowd participating performance.”

Mackie says  one never knows what character Pilgrim will portray at the high tea event, but audience members are guaranteed to have fun trying to figure it out in the “Guess Who Game.”

Indigenous storyteller, Meredith Rusk will share aboriginal stories. Rusk is of Dene ancestry and has been a teacher in aboriginal communities and programs for more than 25 years.

Over the past decade, she has been a First Nations teacher/ counsellor for the North Okanagan school district. She has entertained people of all ages at schools and community events with stories from different indigenous nations of North America.

“Enjoy the sweet musical sounds of entertainer Manfred Harter,” adds Mackie. “Manfred is a popular and well-loved Okanagan entertainer whose charismatic personality, humour, musical and performance skills have merged into a signature performance style that serves to create a remarkable rapport with his audiences.”

Dress up for high tea in your best Edwardian garb. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed and best hat.
