Help heap books

The “Heap the Honda” Children’s Book Drive launches Saturday, Jan. 7

The “Heap the Honda” Children’s Book Drive launches Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Salmon Arm SilverBacks game versus the Penticton Vees.

A Honda Ridgeline will be parked at the arena. SilverBack fans are asked to donate gently used children’s books and heap them in the back of the Honda, with a special challenge going out to all minor hockey players, coaches, and parents.

Throughout January, a vehicle will be in the Salmon Arm Honda showroom and during Family Literacy Week (Jan. 23rd to 29) one will also be parked in the Mall at Piccadilly.

All of the books will be distributed to local children’s organizations to support family literacy. Last year more than 2,200 books were collected.

The Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society (LASS) has partnered with Salmon Arm Honda, the Salmon Arm branch of the Okanagan Regional Library, the Silverbacks, and Piccadilly Mall.
