Nimblefingers play Sorrento

Sorrento will play host to the NimbleFingers bluegrass and old-time music festival and workshops from Aug. 21 to Sept. 2

Sorrento will play host to the NimbleFingers bluegrass and old-time music festival and workshops  from Aug. 21 to Sept. 2.

The first week of the festival will feature intermediate and advanced workshops in guitar, bluegrass banjo, claw hammer banjo, upright bass, fiddle, dobro, mandolin and vocals.

The workshops will be taught by talented musicians from across Canada and as far away as West Virginia and Vermont.

Registration is full for the first week of workshops.

The NimbleFingers festival will take place on Saturday August 27, at the end of the first week of workshops. Artists playing the festival include Sarah Jane Scouten, Lonesome Ace Stringband, The Slocan Ramblers, Old Man Luedecke and Pete Sutherland.

Tickets to the festival are $35 for adults and $22.50 for youths 13 to 18. Those under 13 and over 80 will be admitted for free.

The festival and workshops will be held at the Sorrento Centre, 1159 Passchendaele rd. in Sorrento.

Artisans and vendors including Sorrento Centre Farm, Crannog Ales and Warren Murfitt Guitars will be on site at the festival.

The week following the festival will feature many of the same workshops as the week before.
