Symphonic strings: Harpist Joy Yeh will perform with the Kamloops Symphony at the SASCU Rec Centre on April 29.

Kamloops Symphony’s last Salmon Arm performance for the season will feature a flute and harp duo.

The performance, which is named after the Flute and Harp Concerto, will be a programme dedicated to celebrating Mozart’s musical genius.

This performance will showcase three works by the composer: Overture: La Finta Giardiniera, the Concerto for Flute and Harp, and Symphony #40.

Symphony #40 has been deemed the greatest classical-era symphony ever written.

Kamloops Symphony’s principal flutist, Heather Beaty, will perform as part of the flute and harp duo. She will be joined by harpist Joy Yeh.

The Concerto for Flute and Harp is the only Mozart piece  that included the harp.

Mozart was a prolific composer. In his short lifetime, he composed hundreds of works that included symphonies, concertos, chamber music and opera overtures.

The concert takes place in Salmon Arm at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 29 at the SASCU Recreation Centre.

Arrive early and enjoy tea and coffee and a slice of strawberry shortcake or Black Forest cake, with a minimum donation of $10.

And think about Mother's Day or a special gift for someone's birthday and shop at the fundraising auction which will be set up at the back of the auditorium.

Funds raised through the silent auction and tasty desserts help bring the symphony to Salmon Arm.

Tickets for the symphony can be purchased at Wearabouts,  350 Alexander St. NE or at the door.
