Rockabilly setting roots here

The rockabilly culture seems to be everywhere you look, from the cars to the pin-up inspired clothes and the guys with the slicked back pompadours, that would leave the likes of Elvis jealous.

The interest crosses all ages and musical preferences.

The culture is growing on the local music scene as well, with rockabilly band Grim Hymn and the Horrors from Vernon making many return trips to Salmon Arm’s Old Dog Pub and Grub.

Friday, April 29, Calgary band Eve Hell and the Razors will trace their mutual affection for rockabilly music back to their formative years as music students at Red Deer College.

It was in the subculture of Americana that the couple found their true musical calling, Eve with her stand-up bass and Mike with his Gretsch guitar bring to mind The Stray Cats or Jerry Lee Lewis, who were high on the charts, when boys sported leatherman jackets and girls wore poodle skirts.

Also on the bill are,  Victoria-based The Stockers. No Cover.
