Salmon Arm music students excel

Five young music students from Salmon Arm placed very well at the provincial festival held in Fort St. John.

Five young music students from Salmon Arm placed very well at the provincial festival held in Fort St. John. The five had also competed in the 2016 Shuswap Music Festival.

The students often compete at other regional festivals where, if they win their categories, they are then recommended by these other festivals to compete at the provincial level. As winners of their categories, Stephen Moore and Jaeden and Aria Izik-Dzurko will advance to compete at the National Festival to be held in Edmonton in August.

Junior B Piano Runner-up in Junior B Piano – Aria Izik-Dzurko; winner in National Piano – Jaeden Izik-Dzurko; winner in Junior Canadian Piano – Stephen Moore; winner in Senior Canadian Piano – Aria Izik-Dzurko and winner in National Canadian Piano Jaeden Izik-Dzurko.

Holly McCallum was the runner-up in the Junior A Strings division and Libby Wyse received an honourable mention.

Jaeden Izik-Dzurko received the Linda Stobbe Memorial Award as winner of the National Piano Class.
