Canada is a mosaic of cultures, and for that I am grateful. We’re collectively richer in the combination.
Heritage Week is celebrated in B.C. communities throughout the province every year, commencing on national Heritage Day, the third Monday in February.
Heritage Week themes open up a myriad of possibilities to recognize community heritage buildings, places and history, organize special events and celebrations, and forge partnerships with local business interests.
It seems fitting that a group of 15 archaeology students from Victoria are coming to help out at the Chase and District Museum this weekend, just before BC Heritage Week from Feb. 20 to 26.
The theme for BC Heritage Week 2012 is ‘Energy in BC: A Powerful Past, a Sustainable Future.’
Thinking Day
Feb. 22 is Thinking Day, which is in the middle of Guide Scout Week from Feb 20 to 27, commemorating the birthdays of the organization’s founders, Lord and Lady Baden-Powell. The Baden-Powells shared the same birthday on Feb. 22.
Each year on Feb. 22, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world celebrate World Thinking Day.
It’s a day when Girl Guides and Girl Scouts think of each other and give thanks and appreciation for the international friendship they find in the movement. The theme for World Thinking Day 2012 is “we can save our planet.”
Chase Brownies and Sparks will think of each other within their pack and beyond in the Guiding movement as part of a global organization which has a long history in B.C. and Canada.
