Variety’s for the kids

It’s time to help kids and their families again.

It’s time to help kids and their families again.

Two fundraising events for Variety - The Children’s Charity roll out this weekend. Centenoka Park Mall hosts their longtime, family-friendly event Friday and Saturday, Feb. 4 and 5.

The mall will be filled with fun activities for the kids and young at heart, and music to keep everyone entertained.

A silent auction features fabulous items, available for bids until the auction closes at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5.

It’s for the kids, but it is adults-only at the 22nd annual Auction for Variety at the Royal Canadian Legion, organized by Sherrie Favell and her enthusiastic band of volunteers on Saturday, Feb. 5. The doors open at 11 a.m., giving people ample time to get their bidding cards and view the wide variety of items available in the auction, which begins at noon and runs to about 6 p.m.

The event also features hamburgers and cold beer, pop and coffee, 50-50 draws and more.

“Salmon Arm is amazing, we have so much stuff donated, and people make us stuff,” says Favell. “It’s not only Variety, but somebody’s always bugging them for something, That’s why we should support our little shops.”

Favell says funds raised for Variety have benefited area families, not just in terms of direct health care, but in out-of-town accommodation as well.

Later Favell and crew will dine at Minos Greek House where proceeds made after 4 p.m. will be donated to Variety.
