The door opens today on another fun season at RJ Haney Village and Museum.

Celebrate the long weekend with a delicious pancake breakfast being served at 9 a.m. May 19 and 20 for $6.

Whet your appetite too, for the home-cooked meals served  every summer at Marjorie’s Tearoom, which opens May 19.

The tea room is open Wednesday to Sunday, with the $7.99 lunch special available as a two-for-one special until June 16.

The museum is home to a new exhibit featuring “Billie Louie, the last of the Shuswap Riverboat Captains” – an engaging look at life on the Shuswap in the 1930s.

Built in 1907 for the Arrow Lakes Lumber Company, the CR Lamb took supplies to the far reaches of the Shuswap.

Constructed prior to road travel, the sternwheeler was fueled by cordwood cut by early settlers.

When the CR Lamb had reached the end of her life serving Shuswap communities, Louie purchased the boat from the Shuswap Transportation Company and worked the waterways for the next 25 years.

The new amphitheatre will be christened July 1 with the first dinner theatre performance of the season.

This year’s play, celebrates 19 years of Villains and Vittles Dinner Theatre and, for the third year, is written and directed by Peter Blacklock.

The play will tie in with the new museum exhibit, and will run every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday until Aug. 24.

R.J. Haney Heritage Village will be having auditions for the play on Tuesday, May 22 at 4 p.m. in Marjorie’s Tea Room.

Call 250-832-5243 for more information or to book a seat for Villains and Vittles, which is a reservation-only production.

Haney House shows off her newly renovated exterior this summer and will be available for guided tours. Visitors may also book guided tours through the village, and explore the 2.5 kilometres of nature trails that run through the property.
