The 13th annual Word on the Lake Writers’ Festival is on the horizon – May 20 to 22

It’s festival time in the Shuswap!

The 13th annual Word on the Lake Writers’ Festival is on the horizon – May 20 to 22 at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort and at the Salmon Arm campus of Okanagan College.

Organizers plan the festival so there is something for everyone who enjoys reading or writing. Workshop presenters include best-selling and award-winning  authors across many genres, including crime and sci-fi authors, editors and publishers.

Participants will be able to enhance their writing skills while enjoying opportunities to network, socialize, and have fun!

“And, yes there’s a workshop on songwriting,” says enthusiastic volunteer and musician/songwriter Kelly Hopkins.

This year’s talented presenters include Joëlle Anthony, Victor Anthony, Ted Bishop, Susan Fox, Bernie Hucul, Jodi McIsaac, Alyson Quinn, Jodie Renner, Robert J. Sawyer, Arthur Slade, Michael Slade, Alan Twigg,    and Howard White. Check them out on their individual websites.

“Did we mention fun?” asks Hopkins.

There is a Friday night coffee house with author readings and the lyrical music of songwriter Victor Anthony.

The always-fun Saturday night banquet features Michael Slade, Joëlle Anthony, Victor Anthony, and the Askew’s Foods’ Word on the Lake Writing Contest award ceremony.

A special ceremony for winners of the Kids Write contest is held Saturday afternoon and draws many proud family members.
