Was it Mollie in the kitchen, Major Metcalf in the drawing room or Miss Casswell in the library?
Find out for yourself at Shuswap Theatre’s production of The Mousetrap – but be quick about it as all shows are sold out except for Thursday, Nov. 21.
A heavy snowstorm has trapped a group of seven strangers at the remote Monkswell Manor. The last to arrive at the guest house run by Mollie and Giles is a police sergeant who tells them of a gruesome murder in London and declares one of them to be the culprit.
The excellent cast is a combination of seasoned Shuswap Theatre performers and welcome newcomers, all of whom do very well in maintaining their British accents as author Dame Agatha Christie would no doubt approve. Well, all except Blaine Miles in his portrayal of the hilariously eccentric Paravicini.
Also hysterically funny is newcomer Kyle Herrewynen as the flamboyant and young man prone to bouts of hysteria.
New to directing at Shuswap Theatre, Daniel Hall has assembled a fine cast and led them well through the author’s tale of murder and intrigue.
Excellence carries over to the crews who worked behind the scenes to build and decorate a fabulous set and the remaining members of the Shuswap Theatre community, who brought Dame Agatha’s famous mystery to the Salmon Arm stage.
Remaining performances are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 16 and 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 17. The pay-what-you-can performance takes place Thursday, Nov. 21. Evening performances return Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday at 7:30 and the run ends with a 1:30 p.m matinee performance on Nov. 24.
