A public meeting is planned for the North Shuswap regarding upcoming repairs to the Scotch Creek Bridge.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said crews will be replacing the structural bracing on the single-lane bridge between Oct. 16 and Nov. 10.
To accommodate the work, the bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for the duration of the project. The bridge will remain open during those hours to pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
“Emergency response plans are in place for emergency crews and will allow crossing for emergency vehicles only,” said the ministry.
The ministry noted the bridge was not damaged by the Bush Creek East wildfire, and that this “critical rehabilitation work” was planned before the fire.
The town hall meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, the North Shuswap Community Hall at 5456 Squilax Anglemont Rd. in Celista. Ministry and maintenance contractor staff will provide information about the bridge project and answer any questions.
