Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw will benefit from donated paving to help beautify land that was ravaged by the 2023 Bush Creek East Wildfire.

Recovery from the 2023 Bush Creek East wildfire is progressing quickly at Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw (SteS), and a recent donation of paving will help advance that even further.

In an Oct. 28 media release from SteS, Skwlāx Resource Management (SRM) announced it will donate paving improvements to land that had been devastated by the fires. SRM CEO Trevor Delorey said the improvements will be made to both the area surrounding the gas station near the entrance of the community, and by the SteS Industrial Park.

"The work is meant to improve traffic flow, boost curb appeal and reduce future maintenance needs," the release reads, adding that "SteS Kukpi7 James Tomma and the council are appreciative of SRM for its generosity in beautifying the area."

Paving will begin Tuesday, Oct. 29 and continue to approximately Friday, Nov. 8.
