The Columbia River Bridge in Revelstoke will have a three-hour overnight closure on Nov. 6, affecting traffic on Highway 1.

Late-night drivers should expect delays on Highway 1 at the bridge into Revelstoke in early November.

In an Oct. 30 post to its Facebook page, the city announced that Emcon is planning "necessary repairs" to the Columbia River Bridge that will result in a temporary closure, which was also corroborated by DriveBC.

A full, three-hour closure of the bridge will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 1 to 4 a.m., limiting the impact to daily commuters. Prior to the closure, there will also be single-lane alternating traffic control in place around the area starting on Nov. 5, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., and again from 4 to 5 a.m.

"Emcon is working with Revelstoke Fire Rescue Services and our Public Works team to ensure the safety of our community during this time," the city post said.

DriveBC listed a detour available via the Big Eddy Bridge during the closure but added there will be a five-tonne weight restriction that will be enforced.

The Emcon Revelstoke Communications Centre will be operating for the winter as of Nov. 1 and will communicate any emergency updates at the time of the closure. All public inquiries should be directed to Emcon's 24/7 hotline at 1-866-353-3136.
