The Salmon Arm Tennis Club is urging people to ease up on the gas pedal.

Responding to concerns raised around speeding and unsafe driving on the unpaved roadway by the club property at 3440 Okanagan Ave. SE, the club is asking drivers to slow down, especially as the weather warms up and pedestrian traffic increases.

"The speed limit is technically 50 (km/h), but we would suggest a lower speed being more appropriate, even if the City does not move this down to 30," said the club in an email newsletter, which identifies particular times of concern shared by neighbours: weekdays at 5:30 p.m. (Mondays and Tuesdays in particular) and just before 7 p.m.

"We wish for the Club to continue to be great neighbours and work together with the locals around our facility (who are our eyes and ears when we ourselves are not at the facility)," said the club. "Please give yourself plenty of time to get to your tennis, and if you find yourself in a hurry, still please slow down close to the Club –  even if this means you are a minute or two rushed, or even late, for your game."
