Two men from the Lower Mainland are scheduled for court appearances after a traffic stop for a sobriety check led Sicamous RCMP to seize multiple firearms and illegal drugs.
At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, police pulled over a Nissan Altima with B.C. plates to check the driver's sobriety and confirm the status of his driver's license, said Sgt. Murray McNeil in a media release. A second man was in the front passenger seat.
The driver informed police he did not have his driver's license with him. McNeil said the driver was found to be prohibited from driving and he was arrested for the offence. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a restricted loaded handgun and a prohibited unloaded handgun.
"Police also seized a variety of illegal drugs from the vehicle including heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine, all of which were in excess of the personal exemption amount of 2.5 grams," said McNeil.
The men were held in Salmon Arm for a June 2 court appearance, where they were released by a judge with pending court dates.
