Luke Posthumus celebrates after scoring the eventual game-winning goal against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Oct. 11, at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Luke Posthumus scored on the power play in the final frame and the Penticton Vees won their fourth game in a row on Friday, Oct. 11, beating the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-2 at the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC).

Posthumus' marker, his second of the campaign, was the game-winning goal and came on the power play at 7:58 of the third period.

Landon Wright, Julien Wasmer, and Nolan Stevenson also scored for Penticton, who has won six out of its first seven games to start the BCHL season. Ryden Evers had two assists.

Will Ingemann made 19 saves for the Vees. His counterpart, Silverbacks netminder Ryan Grout made a whopping 39 stops in the loss.

Aidan Willis and Maddux Martin scored for Salmon Arm.

In a rematch of last May's epic Interior Conference Finals, the Vees snapped the Silverbacks' three-game win streak.

Penticton (6-1-0-0) dressed nine players from last season's seven-game playoff series. Salmon Arm (4-2-1-0) had seven returning players suit up at the SOEC on Friday.

The Silverbacks were the ones to score first, with Willis notching his second of the season at 2:04 of the first period.

Wright responded on the power play six minutes later, before Wasmer scored his first of the season to give Penticton a 2-1 lead heading into the middle frame.

After Martin tied the game for Salmon Arm in the second period, Posthumus notched his game-winning marker in the third, firing a one-timer over the goaltender's glove.

Stevenson scored an empty-netter in the dying seconds of final frame to make it 4-2.

Penticton is off for the Thanksgiving weekend and won't hit the ice until Oct. 15, when it battled the Okotoks Oilers at the BCHL showcase in Abbotsford.

Salmon Arm, meanwhile, hosts West Kelowna (3-3-1-0) on Saturday night, Oct. 12, at Rogers Rink. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
