With laser precision, bowlers from across the region sent pins flying at Salmon Arm’s Lakeside Bowling Centre during the Interior tournament on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The all-day event had teams from Castlegar, Merritt, Lumby, Vernon, Kamloops, Princeton and Chase, with the men hitting the lanes first, followed by the ladies, then mixed.
The Salmon Arm teams, coached by Gerry Thomas, delivered solid performances, with the men coming in first at 4,154 points, followed closely by Chase in second at 4,136. Individual high scores were taken by Merritt’s Bill Campbell with a 326 game four-game block of 1,072.
The ladies trailed somewhat, coming in third with 3,787 points behind Kamloops and Vernon in first and second, with 3,914 and 3,869 respectively. Salmon Arm’s Terry Vandevosse, however, bowled the high block with 992 points over four games.
Shuswap teams dominated the mixed draw, with Chase taking first at 4,017 and Brandi Nakazawa bowling the best game to contribute 295 of those points. Salmon Arm took second place with 3,985 points, while Kamloops earned third at 3,764.
The alley action was followed by a well-deserved happy hour, dinner, dance and awards.
Next year’s Interiors will be hosted by Princeton.
