The Sicamous Eagles faced their second shutout loss in a week after losing to the Revelstoke Grizzlies 2-0 Friday night in the KIJHL.
Despite having the home ice advantage as the team hosted the Grizzlies Feb. 7 in the first of a three-game stretch, they were unable to find their rhythm.
The game between the ninth-ranked Eagles (20-13-6-0) and the third-place Grizz (29-6-0-4) remained scoreless throughout the first two frames. Both teams played cleanly, however, with just one penalty assessed to Revelstoke's Hunter Shaw for delay of game.
The Grizzlies finally broke the stalemate late in the third when rookie Liam O'Neill scored his first KIJHL career goal, the game winner, at 18:26, with Florian Ambauen and Jaylen Forsyth collecting assists. The Eagles then pulled their goalie for Connor Shymoniak to ensure Revelstoke's win at 19:09 off of Colton McLeod and Jacob Smith.
Ryder Ponto earned the 19-save shutout in net for the Grizzlies, while Eagles goalie Gabe Bergeron blocked 39 tries.
Despite the loss, the Sicamous Eagles have now clinched a playoff position.
The two teams will have a rematch next weekend in Sicamous Friday, Feb. 14, before moving to Revelstoke Saturday, Feb. 15. Puck drops at 7 p.m. both nights.
