Salmon Arm Sockeyes take third in 50th annual invitational swim meet

More than 250 swimmers ages 3 and up were at the SASCU Recreation Centre over the weekend for Salmon Arm Sockeyes Swim Club's 50th annual invitational swim meet.

The Salmon Arm Sockeyes' Adele Bollans competes in the 200-m individual medley at the local swim club's 50th annual invitational swim meet held at the SASCU Recreation Centre June 8 and 9, 2024.

More than 250 swimmers ages 3 and up were at the SASCU Recreation Centre over the weekend for Salmon Arm Sockeyes Swim Club's 50th annual invitational swim meet. 

The competitors, 263 in total, arrived from Princeton to Golden to Kamloops for the June 8-9 meet, at which the Sockeyes swam to third place overall, behind the Revelstoke Aquaducks and the Kelowna Ogopogos.

All the Sockeyes swam personal best times throughout the weekend, with individual aggregates won by:

• Div 2 Boys, gold - Alex Magneson;

• Div 4 Boys, silver -  Nash Bredick;

• Div 4 Girls, silver - Journey Vandergrift;

• Div 5 Boys, gold - Nathan Couch;

• Div 5 Girls, gold - Jaidyn Danyluck;

• Div 7, gold - Tyler Hilton;

• Div 7 Boys, silver - Matthew Blacklock;

• Div 7 Boys, bronze -  Lane Kassa;

• Div 7 Girls, gold - Jasmine Blacklock.
