The Sicamous Eagles closed November with a hard fought win, their sixth straight, though they racked up over an hour in the penalty box to earn it.
After a largely scoreless match, the team waited until the final frame to take Saturday's game 4-1 over the league-leading Princeton Posse. Things looked promising for the Posse early on, lighting up the board less than four minutes in, before both teams spent the rest of the first and the second warming the bench in the sin bin.
The Eagles finally struck at 5:31 in the third when Hayden Evans scooped his ninth of the regular season from Walker Overwater and Jackson Maloney. Josh Missfeldt potted the game winner on a mid-frame power play, with Ashton Angle and Clayton Gillmore adding assists. Reyd Langan planted an insurance goal just over a minute later off a pass from Maguire Nicholson before Dylan Konschuh added parting shot with an unassisted empty netter in the final few seconds.
Kael Svenson stopped 37 shots for the win in net while the Posse stopped 26 of the Eagles' tries. Sicamous topped Princeton in infractions as well, earning 70 penalty minutes as opposed to 29.
The Eagles are back on the ice Friday, Dec. 6 when they host the Fernie Ghostriders, then on the road against the Revelstoke Grizzlies Wednesday, Dec. 11. The puck drops at 7 p.m. both nights.
