It took a lot of bucks to win the provincial election.

Shuswap Liberal Greg Kyllo spent $94,527 during his successful Shuswap race in May, while Liberal Eric Foster had expenses of $75,027 in Vernon-Monashee.

Foster defends the amount of money used to fuel his campaign.

“I’m pleased with the results, so I guess it worked,” he said.

“All of the money we had raised locally over the last four years.”

Foster added that the majority of his expenses were directed towards advertising.

Elsewhere in Vernon-Monashee, the NDP’s Barry Dorval spent $32,385 on his campaign, while there was $6,146 for Green Keli Westgate and $468 for Libertarian Don Jefcoat.

Besides Kyllo, financial documents have been released for the other Shuswap candidates. They show that expenses were $2,300 for Green Kevin Babcock, $28,303 for the NDP’s Sylvia Lindgren and nothing for Libertarian Kyle McCormack.
