Charges laid in Enderby Super Save gas station fire of 2012

Charges have now been laid in connection with a fire that seriously damaged an Enderby business in 2012.

The Super Save gas station on Highway 97A suffered extensive smoke and water damage in a fire on Nov. 19, 2012.

Firefighters said the blaze began in a back room.

The station, owned by the Splatsin First Nation, has since been rebuilt.

Charges were approved, following a lengthy investigation, on Feb. 7 against Donald Jeffrey Thomas, 43.

He is facing six counts related to the Nov. 19, 2012 fire – mischief endangering life, mischief to property over $5,000, arson damaging property, arson for fraudulent purpose, destroying/altering a book, etc. to defraud and attempt to obstruct justice.

Thomas is slated to appear in Salmon Arm Provincial Court Feb. 18.
