The busy sounds of construction have been put on hold, as the Village Chase awaits permit approval for the new wharf.
A Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations official advised the village of the missing permit on March 4.
Joni Heinrich, chief administrative officer, says village officials hope the matter will be resolved within the next two weeks.
Heinrich says the village will get approval, but it could come with certain limits and conditions included.
The ministry will determine whether or not they believe construction will have an detrimental impact on the lake.
Heinrich says she believes the worst-case scenario would be they get the permit, but are told they cannot have their machines working on the lake bottom. This limitation would require them to use barges to support machinery and complete other work.
Not only would this potentially increase the overall cost of the wharf, but could also cause significant delays as construction would then need to be postponed until the water levels came up to allow for the barges.
While the village has put the majority of the project on hold for the time being, the ministry did allow for some minor work to continue.
This includes work being done to the boat launch and shoreline clean-up.
