Dump truck fire extinguished at Canoe Forest Products

Mill employees kept the fire under control until fire crews arrived to extinguish it

A dump truck caught fire at Canoe Forest Products on Sept. 22

Fire engulfed a dump truck on the Canoe Forest Products property at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 22.

Jim Nickles, a Fire Preention Officer for the Salmon Arm fire department said mill employees kept the fire suppressed until crews from two fire halls arrived to extinguish it.

"It appears it started in the engine compartment," Nickles said.

Nickles said the truck was unsalvageable following the fire.
