A mobile home in Eagle Bay was damaged by fire but not destroyed Friday.

About 11 a.m. Feb. 27, firefighters received a report of smoke coming out of the roof of a trailer in the 2400 block of Eagle Bay Road.

Fire services coordinator for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, Kenn Mount, says upon arrival, firefighters could see smoke coming out of all the vents and the roof attic space of the mobile home. They were able to attack quickly.

“The home survived, it’s still standing,” he said, noting there was good response from the Shuswap Fire Department, with White Lake brought in for additional manpower.

“They knocked down the initial fire activity relatively quickly; probably the first 10 minutes on scene.”

Mount says the fire appears to have started in the bedroom, spreading to the attic, but the investigation is not complete yet.

No one was reported injured in the fire.
