Salmon Arm city council has agreed to sell two portions of municipally owned property to FortisBC.

The two properties are located near FortisBC’s gas pressure regulating facility at 6040 Road SE. Both are adjacent to a .06 hectare parcel of land owned by Fortis at 50th Ave. SE. One property, one the south side, includes a four-metre wide by 28.6-metre long section of 50th.

The second portion to the west is about three by 35-metres in size and is described by the city as undeveloped, with the central and western portions having been historically used as a landfill site. Approval of a road closure bylaw was necessary for to accommodate its acquisition. Council received no comment from the public about the closure. Both properties are going for assessed value, with the road portion selling for $12,213, and the other portion for $12,436.
