The Salmon Arm RCMP are urging the public not to leave keys hidden outside their homes after they responded to two separate break and enters on March 11 and 12. In both cases the culprits gained entry by finding a hidden key outside the residence.

The thieves took cash and jewellery during both break-ins. According to the RCMP one took place in the 2000 to 3000 block of 30th St. NE and the other was in the 2900 to 3000 block of 5th Ave. NE.

The RCMP recommend giving family members a key rather than leaving it outside or equipping the home with combination locks.

If anyone witnessed suspicious activity in the areas listed above on March 11 and 12 they are asked to call the local RCMP at 250-832-6044.
