It’s official.

Premier Christy Clark and the BC Liberal party have acclaimed incumbent MLA Greg Kyllo as their candidate for the Shuswap riding in the May 2017 election.

Kyllo is the parliamentary secretary for the BC Jobs Plan to the Minister of Jobs, Tourism, and Skills Training. He is also a member of the Treasury Board, the Cabinet Committee on Strong Economy, and the Cabinet Working Group on Core Review.

“Premier Clark has a clear vision for the future of British Columbia and a proven track record of managing budgets and tax-dollars effectively,” said Kyllo. “We are in the enviable position of leading Canada in job creation and economic growth, we are making record investments in services including healthcare, housing, and education, and we’re on track to eliminate our operating debt by 2020.”

“Our BC Liberal government’s plan of growing the economy and creating jobs is working. But there’s more work to be done, and that’s why I’ve decided to run once again.”

Kyllo’s passion for his community extends to his interest in seeing highway and road upgrades in the region including $162.7 million to support the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) Salmon Arm West project, $4.9 million for resurfacing Hwy 1 and Hwy 97A and $3 million for a new bridge on Hwy 97A over Hummingbird Creek between Sicamous and Grindrod.

“We are thrilled to learn Greg has decided to run again,” said Mayor of Armstrong Chris Pieper. “He is a proven, qualified, get-it-done MLA who listens and delivers for families across his riding.”

Kyllo is a principal of his family’s businesses Twin Anchors Houseboat Vacations and Twin Anchors Manufacturing. Prior to provincial politics, he was elected to the Sicamous District council in 2011 and was appointed Deputy Mayor. He was also the chair of the Finance Committee and has served on the Sicamous Economic Development Board.

Kyllo and his wife Georgina have raised their four daughters in the Shuswap and have six grandchildren.
