The Canada Revenue Agency earned a victory in Salmon Arm Provincial Court Thursday when Salmon Arm resident Gary Richard Lott pleaded guilty to one count of failing to comply with a requirement to file notice for his 2010 personal income tax return.

Lott was fined $1,000. The outstanding tax return has now been filed.

When taxpayers are convicted of failing to file tax returns, in addition to any fines imposed by the courts, they must still file the returns and pay the full amount of taxes owing, plus interest owed, as well as any civil penalties that may be assessed by the government.
