When Salmon Arm RCMP responded to an assault in progress in the 300 block of Beatty Avenue NW at 7:21 p.m. Oct. 26, they found a business owner restraining a man who had broken a glass door in order to break into the business. The suspect, who continued to resist as he was arrested and removed from the scene, appeared to be suffering from an acute mental illness. He was taken to hospital and held for assessment.
