The contents of a report into the North Okanagan-Shuswap School District aren’t being revealed yet.

Special advisor Liz Watson has presented her report on the district’s governance issues to Education Minister Mike Bernier.

“We have received the report and we are in the process of reviewing it,” states the ministry.

The board asked the Ministry of Education to appoint a trustee after widespread community concerns about the transfer of $10.5 million in operational surpluses to capital funding over the past five years.

It was that controversy that led to the resignations of trustees Kelly Rowe, Barry Chafe and Jenn Wilchuk.

Watson was asked by the ministry to look at the district’s governance practices, board relationships with district management and external stakeholders, board accountability and evaluation mechanisms, budgeting processes and capital planning.

The district has not received Watson’s report.

“No news on the special advisor’s report,” said Alice Hucul, district communications officer, in an e-mail.
